Since that victory, India have taken a commanding 2-0 lead in the three-match series. Iyer (105) and Gill (104) formed a commanding second-wicket partnership, amassing 200 runs and setting the stage for India’s imposing total of 399 for 5 after being asked to bat in Indore. Stand-in captain KL Rahul contributed 52, while the explosive T20 sensation Suryakumar Yadav remained unbeaten on 72. Subsequently, India’s bowlers combined forces to establish an insurmountable advantage.

Due to rain, Australia’s pursuit of victory was truncated to 317 runs in 33 overs. Although the Steven Smith-led team struggled to stay competitive, Sean Abbott’s spirited 54 off 36 deliveries towards the end posed a challenge for the Indian bowlers. Batting at number eight, Abbott engineered a crucial ninth-wicket partnership of 77 runs with Josh Hazlewood, who contributed 23 runs.

Commenting on Australia’s tail-ender performance, legendary Pakistani cricketer Saeed Anwar highlighted the need for India to enhance their bowling skills during the slogovers.
