Bangladesh Cricket Board President, Nazmul Hassan Papon, made a significant announcement on Sunday, declaring a cash bonus of Tk 35 lakh for the women’s cricket team in recognition of their success against India.

The Tigresses achieved a historic milestone by securing their first-ever victory against India in One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and drew the series 1-1 after a previous defeat of 2-1 in the T20I series.

President Papon shared his rationale behind the special bonus, stating that while bonuses are usually awarded for winning a series, they decided to grant Tk 25 lakh to the players for their remarkable achievements, particularly highlighting Fargana Hoque’s century in the match.

Furthermore, an additional Tk 2 lakh bonus will be given to the player who scored the century, along with individual bonuses for other cricketers. The total bonus amount, including rewards for the coaching staff, is estimated to be around Tk 35 lakh.

Addressing the controversial remarks made by Indian skipper Harmanpreet Kaur during the post-match presentation ceremony after the third ODI, President Papon chose not to comment. He emphasized that cricket has established rules and regulations, and the appropriate authorities, such as match referees and umpires, will handle the situation accordingly. He expressed satisfaction in seeing that the Bangladeshi players upheld the spirit of the game and did not engage in any controversial behavior.
